Mother

BRENDA LOUISE HUDSON, accomplished soprano, has performed both nationally and internationally to great success.

Brenda has performed extensively in the New York area; sung in Copenhagen, London and Austria; and been a repeat invited guest artist of the Government of Jamaica, where she’s sung at Kings House, the Governor General’s residence.  A versatile singer, she’s performed everything from Lieder to spirituals, from Broadway show tunes at fundraisers to opera arias at renowned Steinway Hall in New York City, and has sung a variety of major works from Handel’s Messiah to Brahms’s German Requiem to Porgy and Bess. Favorite roles have included Lola in Cavalleria Rusticana, Sister Marie-Anne Brideau in Poulenc’s Dialogues of the Carmelites, and Cio-Cio San’s mother in M adama Butterfly.

She also sang with the Palm Beach Opera for over a decade, from 2002-2012. Of one performance, a reviewer noted, “The audience got the full benefit of her rich soprano voice – from the song projections to the tender, melodious lines which maintained their crystal clarity.”

A talented and socially-conscious artist, Brenda has created and performed in a wide number of themed recitals, among them Cultural Diversity in Classical Music; Poems of Passion and Promise; and Saluting Legendary African-American Divas.  Her Gospel Matinee raised over $25,000 for famine victims in Sudan, and, along with such illustrious artists as Frederica von Stade, she contributed a performance of “Deep River” to the CD, A Memorial Tribute to the Fallen Heroes of September 11th 2001.

Initially studying Theater Arts and choreography at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York and transferring her credits, Brenda earned her B.S. in Music from Adelphi University in Garden City, New York. She is available for special appearances, church services and weddings, fundraisers, libraries and community events, and special interest occasions such as black history commemorations. Brenda can be reached at cell: (954) 665-6517 (cell) or (941) 706-3101 (home) and at californiapoppy91@gmail.com.
