Donald H Wernsing MD
Don is a retired Family Physician and Healthcare Executive. He and his wife Michele have lived in Fort Myers for most of the year since 2010. They have 7 children and 5 grandchildren (so far).
Don grew up in East Orange New Jersey. He enlisted in the Navy after high school and was stationed at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital. He then lived in the Philadelphia area for the next 15 years. He attended Temple University and LaSalle College for Chemistry and subsequently graduated from Hahnemann University Medical College, all in Philadelphia.
After 15 years in family practice in Summit, NJ and serving on the faculty of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, he transitioned to the corporate medical world, working extensively with physician and hospital health care systems and managed care organizations. He started retiring several years ago and finally stopped working in 2019.
Don has had a lifelong passion for all types of music and classical music in particular. He has been a fan of the Gulf Coast Symphony since moving to Fort Myers and is looking forward to being a part of the organization and helping it to continue to build on its success.
