Hailed by the San Francisco Chronicle for his “impeccable performance” as Don Magnifico in LA CENERENTOLA while at San Francisco Opera’s Merola Program, bass-baritone Andrew Allan Hiers has established himself as a rising star in the buffo repertoire. The New York Times described his Bardolfo in Salieri’s FALSTAFF as “portrayed with panache,” and he is consistently praised for his ability to flawlessly execute comic patter without sacrificing beauty of sound.

During the 2017 season Andrew was a young artist with Opera Colorado, where he sang Benoit in LA BOHÈME (while covering Colline), Second Nazi in the world premiere of STEAL A PENCIL FOR ME, and Pistola in Verdi’s FALSTAFF (while covering the title role) on the main stage. With Opera Colorado’s touring productions he performed Don Magnifico in LA CENERENTOLA and Dulcamara in L’ELISIR D’AMORE, in addition to a student matinée performance in the title role of FALSTAFF.

Other mainstage performances include Petrucci in LUCREZIA BORGIA with Loft Opera, Leporello in DON GIOVANNI with New York Opera Exchange, Ibn Hakia in IOLANTA with New Opera NYC, the title role in DON PASQUALE with Venture Opera, and Figaro in LE NOZZE DI FIGARO with Opera Upper West, as well as Olin Blitch in SUSANNAH , Rucker Lattimore in COLD SASSY TREE, Zuniga in CARMEN, and the title role in GIANNI SCHICCHI.

Andrew is originally from West Palm Beach, FL and received his Bachelor’s of Music from Florida State University. While earning his Master’s Degree in Voice Performance from SUNY Binghamton, Andrew performed extensively with Tri-Cities Opera, singing Doctor Grenvil in LA TRAVIATA, King René in IOLANTA, Don Basilio in IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA, and Judge Turpin in SWEENEY TODD.
