SWFL Theatre Company Announces 2027 Season of Musicals at the MACC

Southwest Florida Theatre Company announces another incredible season of spectacular professional musical theatre at the Music & Arts Community Center (MACC), starting in January 2027.

SWFL Theatre Company’s 2027 season kicks off in January with Ring of Fire, the hit jukebox musical featuring the music of the Man in Black, country icon Johnny Cash. Ring of Fire runs Jan. 26 through Feb. 7.

Next up is Ghost the Musical, a hauntingly beautiful stage adaptation of the hit 1990 movie Ghost (starring Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore). Ghost the Musical runs Feb. 23 through March 7.

The final production in SWFL Theatre Company’s 2027 season is Why Do Fools Fall in Love?, a jukebox musical featuring favorites from the doo-wop and girl groups of the 1960s. Why Do Fools Fall in Love? runs March 23 through April 4.

Ghost the Musical is a captivating musical adaptation of the beloved Academy Award-winning film by Bruce Joel Rubin, featuring a hauntingly beautiful score by Dave Stewart and Glen Ballard, along with the classic hit “Unchained Melody.” The story follows Sam and Molly, a young couple whose lives are shattered by Sam’s tragic, untimely death. As Sam’s spirit remains trapped between two worlds, his love for Molly intensifies when he discovers she is in grave danger. Desperate to communicate with her, Sam enlists the help of Oda Mae Brown, a quirky storefront psychic who becomes an unexpected ally in his quest to protect Molly and avenge his death. As the celebration picks up steam and the drinks flow, the girls reveal scintillating secrets about their love lives, poking fun and challenging each other to take control of their lives. Featuring smash pop hits from the 1960s such as “My Boy Lollipop,” “I Will Follow Him,” ”You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me,“ and ”Hey There Lonely Boy,” Why Do Fools Fall in Love? reaffirms that during life’s struggles, true friendship will unveil its everlasting strength – often with a rocking beat!
