Nancy Hood was born in Toronto, Canada, and grew up in Ottawa, where she played in the Ottawa Youth Orchestra and the Nepean Symphony. Nancy studied piano and violin, principally with a teacher based in Montréal. She has I played in community orchestras her entire life and has regularly played chamber music as well.
Nancy completed a degree in Medicine at the University of Toronto in 1980 and practiced family medicine for 27 years. In 2007, she changed gears and started working in the hospital operating room as a Surgical Assist. She happily retired fully in 2018. Nancy and her husband own a home in Florida and are Canadian Snowbirds. She says: “I love playing in the GCSO and have made many new chamber music friends with whom I play weekly.”
