Acoustic Eidolon Brings Its Unique “New Acoustic” Sound to the MACC Jan. 23
November 4, 2026
Experience an extraordinary musical journey as Acoustic Eidolon brings their distinctive sound to the Music & Arts Community Center (MACC) on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2027, with performances at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Featuring the remarkable musicianship of Joe Scott on double-neck “guitjo” and Hannah Alkire on cello, this acclaimed Colorado-based duo creates a captivating musical experience that blends classical, Celtic, Americana, world, folk and Flamenco traditions.
Acoustic Eidolon’s signature sound is built around an unusual pairing of instruments and two exceptional musicians. Scott performs on the double-neck guitjo, a unique 14-string instrument of his own design that combines the qualities of guitar and banjo with the rich, resonant sound of a harp. Playing both necks simultaneously, Scott creates intricate melodies, layered harmonies and rhythmic textures that give the instrument its unmistakable voice.
Alkire brings the expressive depth of the cello, combining classical technique with an adventurous approach that takes the instrument beyond traditional boundaries. Classically trained, she studied with G. Magyar of the Hungarian String Quartet and is internationally recognized for her beautiful tone, emotional interpretation and extraordinary versatility.
Together, Scott and Alkire have developed a musical language that is both technically dazzling and deeply expressive. Their original compositions move effortlessly across musical traditions, weaving intricate instrumental arrangements with evocative melodies and rhythms. The result is what the duo describes as a “new acoustic” sound – an imaginative blend of influences that is difficult to categorize and wonderful to experience.
