Jonathan Lawrence was born and raised in Jacksonville Florida and began playing violin at the age of 9. In his adolescence, he performed with the Douglas Anderson High School Orchestra, the Jacksonville Youth Symphony and a chamber orchestra at the University of North Florida. Jonathan studied Violin Performance and Music Education at Stetson University, working under the tutorage of violinist Routa Kroumovitch and conductor Anthony Hose. Following his education, Jonathan Lawrence began his career in Fort Myers Florida. He has been a music educator in the Lee County school system for 13 years where he has taught general music, chorus, strings, and ukulele. He has also been a member of the Gulf Coast Symphony for 13 years and has subbed several times with the Southwest Symphony Orchestra and the Naples Chamber Players. Jonathan is now the Youth Ensembles Coordinator for the Gulf Coast Symphony! He is overseeing the MusicWorks! afterschool program at the Gulf Coast Symphony’s new Music & Arts Community Center. He is looking forward to performing, educating and inspiring our youth, and making a difference in our communities.
