Meisy Laffitte

Prima Ballerina

Meisy Laffitte was born in Havana, Cuba and graduated from the National School of Arts. While in school, she participated in several International Ballet Workshops and won the two Silver Medals as a soloist and in the pas de deux division at the International Ballet Competition of Cuba for the Junior Division, also winning a Bronze Medal as a soloist years prior.

Meisy performed with DNC Todos Para Danza in Tijuana, Mexico. Ms. Laffitte has performed as a guest artist with Joburg Ballet in South Africa performing Don Quixote as a friend and Cupid. Her repertoire includes soloist roles such as Blue Bird in Sleeping Beauty, Kitri in Don Quixote, Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux, Flames of Paris Pas de Deux, La Bayadere Pas de Deux and others. Ms. Laffitte came to the United States in April of 2013 joining the Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida in Miami after working with Laura Alonso.

Since joining Kentucky Ballet Theatre in 2014, Ms. Laffitte has performed soloist roles in La Fille Mal Gardee (pas de deux), Satanella in Carnival of Venice, La Bayadere as Nikiya, The Merchant & the Slave Pas de Deux from Le Corsaire, Harlequinade, The Nutcracker, Paquita, La Sylphide, The Night Before Christmas, Beauty & the Beast, Peter Pan, Cinderella, Raymonda, The Little Humpback Horse, Calles de Tango, Waltz for Two, Divenire, Nisi Dominus, Hoops, Fairy Doll, Little Mermaid, Degas, and Beethoven.

In May 2017, Meisy traveled to Cancun, Mexico with three other company members to perform a pas de deux by invitation at the 7th Annual Encounter of Dance Festival. This will be Meisy’s fourth season with Kentucky Ballet Theatre and has been featured at Ballet Under the Stars for four summers. Ms. Laffitte is also a lead faculty member in the KBT Academy and teaches at Wilmore Christian Ballet as well.
