Paul Nadler

Conductor

Maestro Paul Nadler is an exciting and highly respected symphonic and operatic conductor who has led the Metropolitan Opera company in over 60 performances since his debut in 1989. In addition to being Conductor Emeritus of the Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, which he headed for 16 years, and Principal Guest Conductor of the Filarmonica de Stat “Moldova” Iasi (Romania), he has conducted opera performances and led symphony orchestras throughout the United States and Canada, in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

This season Maestro Nadler returns to the Metropolitan Opera in April to conduct performances of Verdi’s early masterpiece, Ernani. Next season he will be at the Met for productions of Anna Bolena, Die Fledermaus, Simone Boccanegra, and Otello. He will also return to the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University for a symphony concert in April, for a production of The Barber of Seville in October, and for symphony concerts in October and November of 2015 and in January and March of 2016. May and June of 2015 find him in Romania, for concerts with the Bucharest Philharmonic (May) and the Iasi Philharmonic (June), followed by a production of Mascagni’s Zanetto with ICAV in Montreal (August).

At the Metropolitan Opera Maestro Nadler has most recently conducted performances of a new production of Franz Lehar’s The Merry Widow, starring Renee Fleming, Kelli O’Hara, and Nathan Gunn, as well as performances of Johann Strauss’ Die Fledermaus and Dvorak’s Rusalka, the latter also starring Ms. Fleming.

In recent concerts with the Bucharest Philharmonic, Maestro Nadler has conducted Robert Schumann’s Third Symphony and the premiere of the piano concertoLebenskraft by the Romanian composer Livia Teodorescu Ciocanea. Other recent engagements include: Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette at the Metropolitan Opera and Faust, Tosca, and The Barber of Seville with Opera Naples, as well as opening the season of Opéra Montréal with Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro. Highlights of recent seasons include two gala concerts with the Orchestra of the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing as well as the “I Sing Beijing” American premiere at Alice Tully Hall.
