GCS Summer Camp

Gulf Coast Symphony is thrilled to announce fun and exciting sessions in our Summer Music Camp! Now offering camp sessions in: Elementary Music Works!, Middle School Youth Orchestra, High School Chamber Ensembles, Jazz and Musical Theater. Students will be placed according to their grade level and the years of experience they have. Students with more experience may be placed at a higher grade level. Students are highly encouraged to attend both weeks of camp. 

COST IS ONLY $150 per week, including Breakfast & Lunch. There are no registration fees. Scholarships (need based) are available.

General Information

The camp provides high quality, positive experiences for students who are interested in studying instruments from the stringed family, jazz, or developing in the craft of musical theater. It gives students of all levels a chance to grow musically and to share in fun activities with others. Students will learn in a safe environment and be taught by experienced professionals and educators. We create a community of positivity and respect. Students will perform throughout the camp to show what they have been learning. 

Camp Sessions:

Week I: June 20-June 24  

Week II: June 27-July1 

Camp Hours:

8:30am-9:00am Camper Drop Off/Breakfast
9:00am – Noon Morning Session
Noon-1:00pm Lunch
1:00pm-4:00pm Afternoon Session
4:00pm-4:30pm Camper Pickup

Food:

Students will be provided with breakfast and lunch, but they are welcome to bring their own food or snacks if they would like. Campers will have additional breaks throughout the day.

Gulf Coast Symphony Music Camps

Music Works! Camp

Music Works! camp is aimed towards students in grades 2-6 with little to no experience on a stringed instrument. Students will explore music by participating in fun engaging music classes. They will be provided with violins, get introduced to the instrument, and learn to play! No experience or instruments are required.

Youth Orchestra Camp (Grades 4-8)

Youth Orchestra camp is designed for students with 1 to 4 years of experience and is aimed for students in grades 4-8 who can read music. Students will brush up on their technique, music reading, and rehearse and perform as an orchestra.

Chamber Ensembles (Grades 8-12)

Chamber Ensembles camp is for more advanced students who play at a high school level string students. Students will work on more advanced techniques, sound quality, vibrato, and challenging pieces of music.

Jazz (Grades 8-12)

Jazz camp is for students in grades 8-12 who play at a high school level. Students will develop jazz skills through individual skills, ensemble performing, and masterclasses . At the end of week 2, students will perform for parents and fellow campers!

(Enrollment in Sessions I+II is required)

Musical Theater (Grades 6-12)

Musical Theater camp is for students in grades 6-12. Students will develop in all areas of music theater including singing techniques, choreography, rehearsal terminology, and acting. At the end of week 2, students will present a full music theater performance of Frozen Jr!
