This free, immersive education experience delves into the instrument families that comprise the orchestra. Each 1-hour event is geared for grades K-6, and combines age appropriate performances and Q&A sessions with hands-on opportunities for children to see, hear, touch, and play symphonic instruments. This event will focus on the strings; violin, viola, cello, and bass.

The librarian reads a music-related story and a Gulf Coast Symphony musician provides accompaniment and an introduction to their instrument. Music-related books are also displayed for families to check-out to read together at home.

Musical Discovery Zones™ allow children (and adults!) to meet several musicians from the orchestra, and try playing some of the instruments. This Musical Discovery Zone is part of Taste of the Cape, being held at Four Freedoms Park in Cape Coral.

Lunch and Learn classes are first steps in learning about symphonic music, led by Gulf Coast Symphony musicians.  Musicians will lead classes on various music topics including music examples of this seasons concerts, music history, information about the musician’s instrument, among others. This Lunch & Learn will focus on the sensory experience of the musician. 

Select members of the cast of the Gulf Coast Symphony/Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre’s production of Oklahoma! will perform a concert at sunset at Jensen’s Marina. This event is part of the Gulf Coast Symphony’s 20 Days of Music initiative that brings more than 20 free events to Southwest Florida each winter.

A limited number of chairs are provided. You are encouraged to bring your own chairs and your own snacks and beverages.

Taste of the Cape

Four Freedoms Park in Cape Coral comes alive with the premier culinary and cultural event of the season. Enjoy a wonderful afternoon of great tastes from some of the best restaurants Cape Coral has to offer, and a wide variety of wide variety of beers, margaritas, and wine. Local bands perform throughout the day, and the afternoon caps off with Symphony at Sunset – performed by the Gulf Coast Symphony! All proceeds benefit scholarships and music education outreach programs within our community.

• Admission is free
• Gates open at 12:00 p.m., event ends at sunset (~6:00 p.m.)
• Purchase food & beverage tickets on site; no outside food or beverages or coolers allowed
• Bring lawn chairs and/or blankets

• Enter from Sunnybrook Avenue at Cape Coral Parkway; Sunnybrook Avenue and Beach Court will be closed to vehicle traffic

A FREE night of song and dance! Gulf Coast Symphony presents the talented Jazz Singer, Maci Miller, sharing songs from her new album “Round Midnight.” Learn to Rumba with Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Bonita Springs. Gulfshore Opera’s Go Diva’s will be performing their operatic tunes in The Octagon.  An artisan market includes eclectic products for sale, farmer’s market-style, from the site’s organic garden, local vendors, area artists, and craftsmen. Featured artist Janis McCracken will be at the event with artwork on display.
