MACC Presents: ‘Guitar by Candlelight’ with Benise and Pavlo Jan. 13

On Thursday, Jan. 8, at 7 p.m., the Music & Arts Community Center (MACC) presents Guitar by Candlelight with Benise and Pavlo.
Acclaimed guitar virtuosos Benise and Pavlo come together for an extraordinary concert experience that bridges centuries and cultures, spanning the works of Vivaldi, Bach, and Beethoven alongside iconic selections from Led Zeppelin and AC/DC.
Performed in an intimate candlelit setting, the program offers a rich and evocative tapestry of guitar arrangements influenced by musical traditions from around the world. Highlights include inspired interpretations of “Moonlight Sonata,” “Concierto de Aranjuez,” “Thunderstruck,” “Malagueña,” “Hotel California” and “Kashmir.”
Known internationally as “The Prince of Spanish Guitar,” Benise redefined the genre by blending Spanish guitar with world music and dance in his Emmy® Award-winning stage productions. Rising from his beginnings as a street performer, Benise has built a remarkable global career, releasing 18 albums and eight DVDs. His music has been featured in the Olympic Games, and he has appeared on the highest-rated television program in the United States, Dancing with the Stars.
Pavlo, an internationally renowned, award-winning recording artist, performer, and songwriter, has enjoyed a distinguished career spanning more than 20 years. He has released 17 albums and starred in four PBS television concert specials. Pavlo is celebrated for his signature “Mediterranean music,” a sophisticated fusion of Greek, flamenco, Latin and Balkan influences infused with contemporary pop sensibilities. His artistry has taken him to concert halls around the world, where he has performed for royalty and toured alongside artists including José Feliciano, Jon Secada, Olivia Newton-John and The Tenors.
