September 4, 2026
Inside Broadway with Julie Carver is a new cabaret series at the Music & Arts Community Center (MACC), hosted by Dr. Andrew Kurtz and pianist Julie Bearden Carver, that gets up close and personal with Broadway performers for an intimate evening of storytelling, secrets, and song.
Inside Broadway premieres on Oct. 8 (7 p.m.), with the phenomenal Doug LaBrecque, who thrilled theatre audiences as The Phantom and Raoul in the Harold Prince production of The Phantom of the Opera, and starred on Broadway as Ravenal in the Prince revival of Showboat, a role he also performed in Canada and Chicago.
One of the most prolific concert performers of his generation, Doug LaBrecque has been a soloist with some of the world’s finest symphony orchestras, including the National Symphony, Israel Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony, and the San Francisco Symphony, among many others. Julie Bearden Carver – Music Director of SWFL Theatre Company and Artistic Operations Manager of Gulf Coast Symphony – is an accomplished pianist who made her Broadway debut playing piano 1 for Mary Poppins. Learn more about Julie at GulfCoastSymphony.org.
Inside Broadway continues with the Broadway Bradshaws (Jared Bradshaw & Lindsay Northen) on Nov. 5; Sal Viviano & Liz Larsen on Dec. 3; Lisa Vroman on Jan. 21, 2027; and the Tony-winning triple threat Donna McKechnie on May 8, 2027.
