Evita is a musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, based on the life of Argentine political leader Eva Perón, and follows her from her early life, to her rise to power, her charity work, and her death. It was the first British musical to win the Tony award for Best Musical.
Presented semi-staged, in costume.
“Arguably the best of composer Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musicals…a ravishing spectacle…the sung-through narrative here maintains a rhythmic pulse.” – David Rooney, The Hollywood Reporter
“Smashing…Evita was always an unlikely hit. But it keeps coming back, always newly relevant…’Don’t Cry For Me, Argentina’ and ‘Another Suitcase in Another Hall’ contain some of Lloyd Webber’s simplest, sweetest melodies, and quietly devastating lyrics by Rice.” – Nick Curtis, Evening Standard
