Saxophone Colossus: A Tribute to Sonny Rollins

Sonny Rollins once practiced for months alone on the Williamsburg Bridge rather than face his audiences before he felt ready, and it’s that kind of dedication that produced one of the most commanding saxophone voices jazz has ever known. 

The Gulf Coast Jazz Collective honors Sonny Rollins, the “Saxophone Colossus,” with a tribute as bold and swinging as the man himself. The Collective will be joined by a featured guest tenor saxophonist, bringing Rollins’ hard bop mastery roaring back to life in an evening of pure musical conviction.
