Jazz at the Center: Tribute to Nat & Cannonball Adderley

Julian Edwin “Cannonball” Adderley, an American jazz alto saxophonist of the hard bop era of the 1950s and 1960s,  is remembered for his 1966 soul jazz single “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy,” a major crossover hit on the pop charts. Nat Adderley, a jazz trumpeter, was his younger brother, and they played together many years. Nat’s composition “Work Song” is a jazz standard.
