JAZZ at the MACC: Jazz Originals

Once upon a time…  

…no one knew who Miles Davis or John Coltrane was. Yet today their music is an essential part of the jazz cannon. At the heart of the Gulf Coast Jazz Collective’s mission is to present new music that you won’t hear anywhere else in Southwest Florida. For this concert, the Gulf Coast Jazz Collective, (who are all top jazz musicians and composers in their own right), is joined by two sought-after jazz composers and performers. Award-winning Composer and Saxophonist Zach Bornheimer and Composer and Jazz Guitarist LaRue Nickelson join the Collective to present all original music composed by members of the band – a one of a kind experience! 

Founded in 2021, the Gulf Coast Jazz Collective brings the best of live Jazz to Southwest Florida. Under the artistic direction of drummer, educator, composer & arranger Paul Gavin, the Jazz Collective invites the best artists from the country to collaborate in concerts that span the entire genre of Jazz.
